There are numerous ways to share your time and talents through the parish ministries of Christ the King Church. Opportunities can be found in liturgical ministries, education, community outreach, and parish life. Liturgical ministries:

Altar servers

Boys and girls age 9 and up, who have made their First Communion, assist at the altar in the celebration of Mass. Training provided.

Collectors

Assist with Sunday Offertory collections during Mass.

Eucharistic Ministers

Administer the Body and Blood of Christ as part of the Eucharistic celebration. Training provided.

Lectors

Proclaim the Word of God during Masses and other liturgies. Training provided.

Music Ministries

Lead the congregation in song by sharing your musical talents during the Mass.  Click here for the Music Ministries page.

Ushers/Greeters

Welcome visitors to Christ the King Church at the beginning of Mass; assist in seating when necessary; provide direction to closets, rest rooms, parish hall, etc.

 

Education:

CCD

Teach, assist, or substitute in a CCD class; assist with class dismissal; help coordinate service projects; help with receptions or special events. Go to CCD page.

RCIA

Assist an adult in his/her preparation for baptism or confirmation in the Catholic faith.

 

Community Outreach:

Giving Tree

Coordinate, assist with, or donate to the parish's annual Advent program of collecting and delivering gifts, food, and financial assistance to the needy.

New Life Prison Ministry

Help a recently released inmate from the York Correctional Center to make a smooth transition to life outside of prison.

New London Meal Center

Christ the King Church is responsible for one meal a month (Sunday afternoon) at the New London Meal Center. Help is needed to coordinate, assist, cook, deliver, and serve.

Pro-Life Committee

This group of parishioners raises funds for Birthright and CareNet, organizations that assist women with unplanned pregnancies.

Shoreline Soup Kitchen

Christ the King Church is responsible for one meal a month (Saturday morning) at the Shoreline Soup Kitchen, located at the Old Lyme Congregational Church. Help is needed to coordinate, assist at sign-ups the weekend before (after masses), cook parts of a meal, serve, and clean up.

 

Parish Life:

Grounds Beautification

Help keep the parish property in good order with occasional weeding, pruning, trimming, raking and other tasks.

Men's Club

This is a group of men who come together for fellowship and to sponsor spiritual, service, and social activities in the parish. Click here for the Men's Club website.

Parish Life Committee

Coordinates, organizes, and stages the annual Harvest Fun Day, as well as the Mardi Gras supper and other parish-wide activities.

Pastoral Council

Assists the pastor with the administration of the parish.
