 Attending Mass during COVID

Public attendance at Mass is now allowed in the Diocese of Norwich, with some restrictions.  At Christ the King Church, we have returned to our usual schedule of weekend Masses: 5pm Saturday; 8am and 10:30am Sunday. Daily Mass is celebrated at 8am Monday–Friday. In addition, every weekday morning from 6:30am to 7:30am the Eucharist is available for an hour of adoration

Effective May 22, the dispensation from the Sunday Mass obligation as been discontinued — but that obligation never applies to anyone for whom attending Mass would jeopardize their health.  If you are sick, if you have a fever, or if you think you may have been exposed to the coronavirus or any illness, please stay home! We will continue to live-stream at least one weekend Mass via Zoom for those who cannot come to church.

Effective Saturday, May 22, 2021, some changes to our Covid restrictions were implemented, per directive from the Diocese of Norwich.
  • Social distancing is no longer required at Mass.  Tape has been removed from the pews and all pews are available for seating.
  • Communion has returned to its traditional place within the Mass, and there are two lines up the middle aisle, with both priests distributing.
  • Read the full statement dated May 10, 2021, signed by all four Connecticut bishops.
  • As of May 25, Bishop Cote has declared that face masks are optional at Mass for those who have been FULLY VACCINATED (at least two weeks past the second dose). Hand sanitizer is still available at the entrance.
